Desda"moan"a

It's funny when you look at her name and all you can think about is how unfaithful she must be to her husband. But it's really the opposite. Othello is the unfaithful one. Throughout the play, "poor" Desdemona had to endure the pain and worry of her husband's judgment upon her. Now desiccated, I am at my wit's end with Desdemona. I almost wish that she was the panache that everyone thought she was going to be. An arrogant, sassy wife to the leader of the Venetian army would have been much more entertaining than the lugubrious damsel in distress that was Desdemona. Her aloofness was a pique to me. I wanted her to have some confidence or awareness to her power. All she did was "moan" about her worries. Stick up for yourself Desdemona! Well, you're dead now... but you should have from the beginning. Her soporific quandaries were of no interest to me. I wanted to rip my hair out when I heard her drag on about anything else, that's how enervated I was from her character. Something was just a little eschew about her. She was either confused or out of the loop on something. How can someone with such high status for a woman be so dumb?! Sorry Desdemona but you are. Your situation was tacit. Othello had or is in the litany of woman's dreams of his exotic desires. You should have dealt with it before you let his jealous mind get you first. Oh well. I'll leave you alone in your solemn death then. Goodbye (thank gosh).

Cassio -- without the C

I think that many of us want to think that Cassio is some innocent pawn in Iago's game, but then we would be lying to ourselves. Come on Cassio, get some brains. You are next in command under Othello! Nepotism may have gotten you the position, but now you need reach out of this "too good for everybody else" milieu that you live in. Hold your liquor, or don't drink at all. You can't get by on looks all the time (which may not be working for you based on what I saw in the movie version). Your jejune behavior only further infuriates me; just because you are rich and "pretty" doesn't mean you can prance around the town drunk. You are so bereft of physical duties that now you think you can just get by on life with your charm. Try being a little less careless and little more fastidious. Look what has happened! At least try to recoup before you humiliate yourself! You made a drunken fool of yourself and now you lost your job... Even though you do have connections with important people you are only a sinecure; you do nothing and make money. It's wrong. Although Iago's rage is intense, your attitude and status is unwarranted and I don't think that you should even be the leader of the Venetian army in Othello's place. It may be expedient for you to lay around and do nothing, but you are going to have to step up to the plate. Right now you don't have the power to subjugate a mere dog into doing what you want it to do, let alone an entire army of men. Watching you reconnoiter would be an embarrassment to the ferocity of the Venetian army and I cannot stand for your power any longer. If I could I would banish you myself. Good riddance.

Iago has some issues.

I'm not entirely sure as to whether pernicious little Iago is a lucky neophyte in his plans to destroy everyone in his way, or if he actually crafted and demised this plan to get back at Othello for giving Cassio a promotion over him. Needless to say, this dissident definitely has some personal problems to overcome. I'm not sure that I could have such a strong vendetta against someone over something as menial as that promotion. Let me see if I can re-piece the sequence of events that were Iago's plans. SO. Roderigo was in love with Desdemona, but Desdemona married Othello. Iago was angry at Othello because he gave a promotion to Cassio over him. Iago tells Roderigo that if Roderigo pays Iago, he will make it so that Roderigo will get Desdemona, which in turn will cause Othello to crumble. I'm not sure why Roderigo would agree to this subornation, but that's a different story. Despite Roderigo's attempts to sway Desdemona, he couldn't make it fly. But he was resilient. Iago then told Roderigo to start a fight with Cassio, because apparently Cassio was another contender for Desdemona, which resulted in Roderigo's death. With him gone, Iago played on Othello's jealousy to get him to think that Cassio and Desdemona were sleeping together. Iago had Desdemona's sacred handkerchief put into Cassio's hands. Then after Othello had a seizure, he was then transfixed over a conversation he heard which made him ignorantly positive that Cassio and Desdemona were in fact sleeping together. He then took matters into his own hand and killed Desdemona, which Iago's wife Emelia discovered ostensibly (whether she knew before or not the world will never know) and unfolded the truth that she was never cheating on Othello. She then realized that it must have been Iago the whole time and confronted him. Iago stabs Emelia, Othello stabs Iago, and Othello kills himself. Iago's jealousy turned out to be the foible that would prevent him from ever being Othello's successor. Poor Iago, although his plan was one large éclat.

Othello, Othello, Othello

What more is there to say about Othello? As if the succeeding ubiquitous scandals of each and every character aren't more ferocious than the last! All I can say is that Shakespeareans need to keep their you-know-whats in their you-know-wheres. Seriously. Each scene seems to be a new character sexually impeding upon someone else's marriage. This theme emanates from each page from each and every character. It's a little discomforting. To me, the relations between the characters are lilliputian and of minuscule importance compared to each character's inability to just "talk it out." Everyone seems to have formed one homogeneous relationship by now.

Seriously. One character lacks the competence to converse with another character about the problems that he or she may be having. Put a bunch of splenetic people in a play and things get bad. This has created a cycle of ingenuousness among the characters, inevitably making everything end in one disastrous powder keg explosion. One can only gain knowledge by finding things out ~through the grapevine. Guys, just cut the soap opera drama and speak to each other about what's bothering you; there is no need to be reticent or plot revenge that ends in a noisome and unpleasant death. But I guess it wouldn't be Shakespeare if it weren't one tortuous plot that transgressed and spiraled into a sudden vertex that would end the play in tragedy.

Olympics!

I love the Olympics; especially the Winter Olympics. And the fact that they are in Vancouver this year makes it all the greater. After all, I am a die-hard fan of Canada. In fact, I am in love with the country. When the Olympics are on, I disparage the rest of the world, and anything else going on for that matter. I think it's really amazing that no matter what is going on in the world, people can get together and enjoy this universal event without the hostility, perfidy, or worry about the conflicts of today's world. Anyway, the Winter Olympics were SICK. There are just a few amazing Olympians who's necks are being weighed down by their massive medals: Shaun White, Apolo Ohno, JR Celski, Lindsey Vonn, Julia Mancuso, Evan Lysacek, Seth Wescott, Hannah Teter, and many more. America is pretty boss, to say the least.
One of the more interesting, or more eccentric Olympians, is Johnny Weir. I'm not hating, but he is ridiculously odd. One can tell that he deeply loves ice skating, deeply. I thought he was a sangfroid until he gave head whip to the crowd. But I think that the judges didn't score him according to the level of finesse in his routines. He was pretty good, and I think that the judges dislike him because of the amount of sass he has brought the already sassy sport of figure-skating. Besides that, after all of the figure skating was over, I stunningly watched the commercial for Johnny Weir's new show. He is anything but malcontent with himself; that guy is crazy. It was a little quixotic for him to be wearing heels and a fur coat. I'm not sure whether to be uncomfortable or baffled in amazement at how shocking someone can be. Overall, great Winter Olympics this year! :D

Music

People who hate music that isn't part of the social scene is more than an anathema to me. What is wrong with liking a band that no one has ever heard of? Nothing. If you were to look at the music of some bands and artists before they became famous, one would find that they made a complete 180˚ turn from the emotion they used to emit in their previous music. Not to say that I deprecate on , or believe that mainstream artists aren't able to do just the same once they become famous, but many merely try to appeal demands for a catchy beat to listen to until the next artist creates and even catchier beat. What was once pure, emotionally provoked music, has mostly turned into Pop style beats and "hit-worthy" lyrics. I find the artists who write for their own therapy and happiness, are much more enjoyable on the ears. If a song can tell a story, or make you stand at the tip of an emotional cliff, then I feel as though there is much more to the artist's talent then just being able to produce what everybody else wants. It shows the artist's baroque style, one that pays attention to the depth and feel of his music, more than just how many singles he can sell. I would be credulous to believe that Katy Perry went from Christian singer to sleazy Pop diva because she had the gut-wrenching need to do so. I just like to think that the dossier of indie and undiscovered artists I have is far more noteworthy than any of the Top 20 artists I see in today's sellout society.

Personal Pandemonium in Panera...

Okay, so everything started off surreptitiously, because she and I knew we would be the talk of the town, or school, if everybody found out about us. As if that weren't difficult enough, we happened to locate the town ourselves--at Panera Bread, consequently filling in some of the clues about what she and I were doing together. Never go to Panera Bread at Tice's Corner on a Saturday, because you will inevitably find at least fifteen people from school that you know, most of whom make it their obligation to give you the Hester Prynne stare-down, but that's just my own apprehension getting to me, for really none of that happened. A scruple went through my mind as soon as I tried to make a superhero getaway; I couldn't let my enemies win, even though they really aren't my enemies. If we had left, I would have let my own nerves get the best of me, and I simply could NOT let that happen. Granted, I am friends with most of the people that I saw there, but when my ex-girlfriend walked in, about twenty minutes after our arrival, I was almost forced to cede all of my optimism on how awkward the night could actually get. It begins to really get to me when, upon my arrival back to school on monday, I was still getting annoyed by some of my peers. Some even asserted their supercilious jokes upon me, but it was all in good fun. As if seeing them on Saturday didn't depreciate my machismo enough, I was still playfully scrutinized. I think it was funny after the fact now, but at the time, it was thoroughly embarrassing. It's so appropriate for high school. Trying to salvage my pride, in a colloquial tone, I stated to one of my peers, "Leave me alone!" but it didn't matter. Like everything, it passed, and my ten seconds of embarrassment are over and I find it'll be one of those awkward moments to look back upon. I am really happy that it all happened, because she is a great person ~

Chop Sticks and the Girl who Lost it all

I recently castigated Isabel for her poor performance in the game of Chop Sticks. Let me remind you, that this was in fact my first time playing Chop Sticks. Even more insane, was that I hadn't even heard of the game before! After I demolished her, Isabel spoke in a very laconic way, as a result of her dumbfounded loss. From now on, Isabel has forced an indefinite moratorium of the game. I think that is due to her lack of skill, but she argues otherwise. It's not my fault that her attempts to beat me are maladroit and careless. I merely played to the best of my ability. I was even surprised that I had won, but I guess that's just how the cards were dealt. As a result, I almost gave out an ebullient cheer, but the class was in a silent literary companion session, so I reserved myself for another time. :D I rock.

Degrassi

Degrassi is the absolute best show on television, and anyone who disagrees clearly hasn't seen what I have seen while watching. It shows every part of teenage life, including geeks, nerds, drug addicts, jocks, devout religious followers , homosexuals, preps, handicapped, diseased, addicted, snobby, sleezy, backstabbing, and beautiful. With over 30 characters, no personality is missed. Each character reaches his or her nadir at one point or another, which makes their drama filled recovery all the more entertaining.
At any saturnine moment in my life, as lame as it sounds, this show has been there to make me happy and help me "deal." I will not say I am obsessed with the show, but I am ADDICTED! I mean, it's really not a big deal that I am friends with a lot of them on Facebook or that I wish them Happy Birthdays... :(). I think the show is like no other teen drama, and it's the original. I strongly dislike all of these knockoff shows who try to recreate the groundbreaking things Degrassi did. *cough Secret Life cough*
Besides that, no other show has as large a cachet in my heart as Degrassi does, in fact, Degrassi's cast are the people that I would choose to meet immediately if given the choice. It's almost as if Degrassi and I have formed into a coalescence, I even speak with a Canadian accent at times to mimic the actors... uhh (awkward). I think, being completely straight forward, that Canada should abrogate the laws that set the borders, and then the cast of Degrassi can come and visit me. We can hang out all the time and be best friends. Is that too much to ask for? You can be the judge.

Los Padres

My burgeoning punishments are grating against my nerves. It seems as though everything that I do, my parents excoriate even the most menial things. For instance, at Winter Ball, which was SO fun, my mother called me about... 8 times. Not only that, but she also texted me twice. I was at the dance, and yet my mother expects me to sit by the phone waiting for her to call. She always thinks I am trying to pull some sort of ruse on her, which is extremely irritating. I'm a good kid, yet almost every weekend I am forced to stay home for some rather stupid reason. These groundings add up, turning what is initially an ephemeral lasting problem into a much larger one. I think that my parents need to focus on more salient problems rather than focusing on meager issues that don't really make a difference. I am sick of the frustration.

Debate

I for one love debate. Although I can classify myself as a "newb," I still love it. My partner is JJ, and we have only won 1 debate so far.. out of 4. But all of that is okay, because we have actually gotten a lot better and have put a lot of effort into it. The main problem is merely our speaking. We do well to convey our plan to the negative team, but then they refute it with rather invidious claims. One comment that the judges and the negative often argue against our plan are the "what ifs." Due to this, sometimes I go off on a tangent during my rebuttal, deriding the negative team's listening. Clearly they mustn't have listened or they would have heard me state how the "what ifs" are taken care of. Nine out of ten times, my rebuttal allays all of the negative team's suspicions of our plans effectiveness and solidity, so I am confident that we are okay on that part.
But affirmative is not where our main problem lies. It's the speaking in the negative debates that are treacherous. Without any recourses except a few books, it is difficult to improvise and argument in five minutes. A lot of the time my arguments are plain improv. It's almost like tawdry jewelry. It's appealing at first, but is all just for initial show. At times, my arguments lack substantial evidence, but they spark an attitude from the other team, much of the time flustering them. My partner gets very riled up and almost hectors the other team, which is good... too an extent. We don't want to be the bullying team, because that will most certainly not help up to victory. But he and I definitely need to practice a lot more because we have the potential to be great. More speaking clinics Mrs. O! We can do it. :D

Her Name is Ashley...

From the day I met Ashley I felt very much allured by her volleyball skills. Her ethereal grace on the court is unmatched by anybody else in our gym class. I used to equivocate my jealous feelings about her overbearing skills, but now I must succumb to her expertise. I cannot censor how much better at volleyball she is at me, for her implacable talent overcomes all else on the court. I talk very garrulously when Ashley brings up the situation because I do not like to admit her talent. When she hits the volleyball it flies over the net with such finesse. So I have come to the conclusion that Ashley is indeed an amazing volleyball player.

P.S. I love Ashley. :D That's Ashley's eraser because she wouldn't be in the picture.

Trees

There is something so tranquil about trees. Last night I think that I looked up trees for about an hour. It's truly fascinating how each tree can be so different. They truly are beautiful. I want to have a house with with a massive draping tree bearing over it. It's almost insane how each tree that we may pass on the road can be tens and hundreds of years old. I think about that. Trees are truly unique creatures. They are like people.. I think that they can feel like we do. I want to get married under a tree how Jenny and Forrest did in "Forrest Gump". It ones of my dreams. Farewell.

Yummy

Okay, so recently I was watching Glee.. the best show ever (don't judge me as Jen did), and Noah Puckerman was celebrating his the annual Christmas Day Chinese food/movie night with his family. Since I had watched that episode, I had this undeniable craving for Chinese food. I hadn't even asked, but ironically my dad bought some. Now I may not be an epicure, but I love Chinese food on occasion. And it was a good thing too, because my stomach was far past the point of being capacious. I devoured my plate of food, and felt like the fat man that doesn't leave the buffet until it closes, for I ate another plate. That wasn't a good idea. I need not explain further, but I will tell you that I was adjoined with some discomfort further on. Toodle-loo my fellow bloggers.

So You Wanna Talk About Mamas!

I guess currently at this moment I only have one true best friend.. But that doesn't matter because she is the best friend of all! Her name is.... Isabel Oskwarek! I've been quick to judge who I think my best friends are before, but I know without a single doubt that Izzy is my true best friend. since I moved here freshman year, I was friends with Isabel, but we werent that close. it wasn't until the summer after sophomore year that I proclaimed Isabel was my best friend through an intense round of Wii Fit hula-hooping. Ever since then, I know without a doubt that I can tell Isabel whatever is on my mind. Not. One. Time. has Isabel ever judged me for something I had done or said, which I must say is refreshing after about 11 months of judgment from other people.
Recently, Isabel and I had serious heart to heart (oh the days of Mrs. Crane's class), and I told Isabel things that no one knows about me except for me. Likewise with her, she entrusted me with some serious things that other people hadn't known about her. I believe this talk to be one of legendary proportions. After that night, I felt that I had endowed every ounce of trust into my friend with no regrets. I know that I never have to be chary when I tell her something. It made me happy to have someone to listen, especially during such a hard time in my life.
I truly value my friendships with people, especially my Izzy. We have gone through a sort of evolution. During a recent relationship, I almost ruined that friendship with Isabel. I let my relationship get in the way of my friendship and really hurt my best friend, which I can never forgive myself for. On the other hand, Isabel has always been there for me to pick me up while I was down, and she always helps me with my relationships with people, and even my crushes. I try and do the same for her, but I am not sure if Isabel knows how much I appreciate and value her help.
I don't know what I would do without Isabel in my life. As we say, we are plutonic friends. We joke about everything, yet can be serious and talk for hours. I can cry in front of her (NOT THAT I HAVE) and not worry about it. I think that Isabel is one of the most important people in my life. She has imbued me with new feelings and insights on life that I will take with me forever. I truly think too enigmatic to show how much I care about my best friend Isabel.
Not only is Isabel an awesome friend, but I also love her family. They are so friendly towards me, and I can have a conversation with any one of the Oskwareks. I think that is really genuine of the Oskwarek family. I also love Isabel's dad's car. :D
To sum up our friendship, we are like two uber, boss, fetch, cool beans, in a big pot of bubbly friendship, mixed in with bombastic conversations of love, sadness, hard times, kawaii anime and happiness, and I love my best friend, Caribou.

Striped Sweater

So a few weeks ago, I bought this really comfortably, wool sweater. I like it a lot. When I think of ideal comfort, I think of myself snuggled up in this sweater. I bought it offline, and it was taking FOREVER to come in the mail. I called the store to see what the holdup was, and so they gave me the tracking code. I was more than solemn when I found out that it was supposed to arrive today, October 19th. Might I add that this was saturday morning, weeks after I had already ordered the sweater. But someone was clearly looking out for me, because I went to get the mail, and amazed, there was my package with the sweater. The least anyone could say, was that I was jubilant. So not only did I wear the sweater, but I also did a drawing assignment today where we were told to draw a piece of clothing hanging from a hanger. Guess which piece of clothing I chose? ... yes the sweater. So here is my rendition of what I call, The Striped Sweater. Thank you, and no need for applause.

What a Sneaky Cat I am

Due to the severity of my actions, I am still grounded. I mean, I tend to think that the way I act reflects something that is unhappy in my life. I certainly was not going to stay home on our three day weekend, that was for sure, but my parents seemed to think I was. Both of my parents have some sort of demeanor that I am out to hurt them, but that is simply untrue. Besides that, in flagrant disregard of my parents direct orders that I was not to leave the house, I decided to be a ninja and sneak out. But unfortunately this was my first time, and my brother unintentionally impeded on my escape. After my parents went to bed, my brother turned all of the lights on, transforming our house into its own Christmas tree of lights. I proceeded to shut them all off, and sure enough, my brother fell asleep. I was starting to gain confidence that this was going to work. I specifically set up the house so that I would know if I was caught, in preparation to create an excuse had I been reprimanded. I pulled the classic pillows under the sheets act, made sure the back door was kept open for stealthy re-entry into the house, and brought my keys with me just in case. With friends being importune and practically begging me to run out the door, sure enough I was outside into my friends car. My night ended at 1 o'clock; I was never caught. I would now consider myself an olympian at sneaking out. Props to me!

The Family and I

Since I am currently being exhorted by my parents to change the way I act, seeing that they think I am, "not the same respectful child they once knew," I have pretty much shut down the existence of my social life, becoming a sort of social pariah among my friends. Yet I do not want to exacerbate the problem by being more painstakingly defiant, although I disagree with their opinion of me. But those are parents, of which most usually think that they are overbearingly omnipotent and know what's best for their children, when truly they do not know a great deal much of me at all. I am sorry that I fail to assimilate into the family activities, but who can blame me? I am after all a teenage boy. Let's face it, I am disinterested in a lot of what the family does, and I'd much rather be with my friends. But I guess that we can all make changes to better our own lives, and maybe a change in myself can bring my family to a happier medium.

I can't wait to go to this concert!

So I was really upset when I heard that the Kanye-GaGa concert was cancelled. But someone answered my prayers when GaGa decided to do her own solo tour! I did want to see Kanye, but I can deal with GaGa alone, believe me. So here is a marvelous picture of this fantastically deranged woman. Enjoy.

I am no longer clueless to blogger

Today I had a cross country meet. I am on varsity, and my goal this year is to break 18 minutes for my 5k. We opposed Pascack Hills, Mawah, and Paramus Catholic today, and might I add that we laid a beat-down on them with a Pascack Valley sweep. My personal time was 18:08, which is so close to my goal, I can practically taste it. I am really tired, so I decided to produce and give birth to my glorious new blog. Shout out to all my AP III friends out there, and even people who aren't my friends! Let's become friends.
